Sue Peri became interested in photography as a teenager. She and her brother Paul created a darkroom in their family’s garage and spent countless hours developing images, often listening to Jethro Tull. Peri enjoys all genres of photography, from nature to photojournalism.
Peri attended UC Davis and graduated in 1979. Her favorite activity in college was working as a photographer for the California Aggie because she felt that it gave her a unique perspective on the university. After graduating she worked for the local newspaper The Daily Democrat, and then for the Davis Enterprise until 2017.
During the COVID-19 pandemic she took photos for the Healthy Davis Together project and was an occasional photographer for the CommuniCare Health Centers.
When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, she found that photography took her mind away from the side effects of her treatment. She is now a volunteer photographer for the Yolo County breast care support group, Thriving Pink.
The artist can be emailed at [email protected] for information and purchases regarding her work.
You can meet Sue Peri at her 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on December 13 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
