California Honey Festival, Woodland

SATURDAY, MAY 6, 2023, 10AM – 5PM
ABOUT
Celebrate bees, other pollinators, and, of course, honey at the annual California Honey Festival in Downtown Woodland. Explore a variety of kids activities, a beer, mead & wine garden, and many local vendors selling honey, food, crafts and more!
The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is among the partners of the event. Staff members and students will be tabling at the festival, sharing educational information about the importance of supporting pollinators and promoting biodiversity along with tips on how you can do so in your own garden.

ACTIVITIES
- THE HONEY LAB
- Taste honeys from around the country and learn how honey gets its flavor on our giant flavor and aroma wheel.
- Learn from the UC Davis Department of Entomology, the Bohart Museum, the Arboretum and Public Garden, and the California Master Beekeeping Program how honey is made.
- Find out about the life cycle of a bee, from a small egg to an adult bee in a only a few weeks
- Discover which viruses, bugs, and human actions are threatening bees
- Learn about different kinds of bee hives and how they work.
- Purchase honey and honey-themed items from the UC Davis Bookstore

The City of Woodland recognizes the importance of pollinators to our economy, our food systems, and our communities and has been designated a Bee City USA by the Xerxes Society.
