Call to Artists for Slice: A Cross-section of Regional Art

The Pence’s Slice exhibit is open to all artists residing in California, and is juried this year by Hearne Pardee, Professor of Art at UC Davis. The exhibit showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Work may be in any medium except for sound or video, but must not exceed 36” wide for 2D work. There are no size restrictions for three-dimensional work. Accepted work should be original and completed within the past five years. To apply, submit 1-3 digital images with an artist statement at www.callforentry.org, and pay a fee of $30 ($35 for non-Pence members).

Monetary awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes will be awarded based on the Juror’s choice and are $400, $300 and $200. Shipping is the responsibility of the artist.

JUROR: Hearne Pardee
Residing in Davis for almost twenty years, Hearne Pardee makes paintings and collages based on everyday landscapes and community spaces. His work has recently been featured in a public art installation in McKinley Village in Sacramento. Educated at Yale and Columbia, Pardee has exhibited his work in both New York and California, including at the Robert Mondavi Winery.
