The Pence’s Slice exhibit is open for application by California artists working in any medium (except video or sound). This is an ‘open theme’ exhibit, which showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 36” wide, and three-dimensional work must not exceed 75 lb. Accepted work should be completed within the past five years and must not have been shown previously at the Pence. Applicants may submit between 1- 6 images of work for review, along with an artist statement and resume, at www.callforentry.org, and pay a fee of $30 for Pence members, or $35 for non-Pence members to have their work juried by May 22, 9 PM.

This year’s juror is Kelly Lindner, Art Galleries and Collections Curator for the University Galleries, California State University, Sacramento, where she is responsible for overseeing exhibits and programs for three galleries. Previously, she was the Director and Curator for the Jacki Headley University Gallery at California State University, Chico. Lindner’s curatorial practice centers on interdisciplinary approaches, collaboration, and site-responsive explorations in contemporary art. Monetary awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes will be awarded based on the Juror’s choice and are $400, $300 and $200.

Notification of acceptance via email: June 7, 2023
Exhibit dates: July 11 – August 20, 2023 (closed Mondays)
Reception: Friday, July 14, 6 – 9 PM (Awards 7:30 PM)
