1968: The Folsom Redemption

April 7, 2020 @ 11:30 am - May 24, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of a landmark event, 1968: A Folsom Redemption is a collection of photographs from two journalists lucky enough to be among a handful of eyewitnesses to the historic Johnny Cash concerts at Folsom Prison. The exhibit features 32 photographs by Gene Beley and Dan Poush that follow Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, and family during the golden era from the Folsom prison recording to the March 1969 concert in Anaheim. 1968: A Folsom Redemption takes the viewer right into the heart of this pivotal moment in the life and career of Johnny Cash—one of the 20th century’s most important and cherished musical figures. We will host a series of talks, a concert, and a panel discussion on arts in the prisons.
Exhibit: April 7-May 24, 2020; Reception: April 10, 6-9 PM
Presented by Pence Gallery and Photography Month Sacramento at Pence Gallery, Davis, CA.
The exhibit is supported by Rosa Marquez & Yatish Mishra, Tom Doyle & Kathy Joseph, Bill & Nancy Roe, Sunny Shine, William Kenefick, and Terry Davison.
