Artist Talk with Sayako Dairiki
Saturday, August 5, 2 – 3 PM (FREE)
Join painter Sayako Dairiki, whose solo exhibit Mended Memories is on display this summer, at an artist talk at the Pence to learn more about her new series of abstract paintings. She’ll share some of the inspirations that led her to incorporate new patterns and linear motifs into her compositions.
Sayako Dairiki: Mended Memories June 27 – August 20, 2023
Sayako Dairiki’s paintings echo sashiko, the traditional Japanese mending technique of garments and blankets that involves repeated stitching in geometric shapes or lines. Her work delights the eye in the repeated geometry of various shapes, inspired by ‘mending’ as a metaphor for healing and reconnecting with others. This exhibit is sponsored by Tom Doyle & Kathy Joseph.
