Bohart Museum of Entomology: Insects in Literature

Come visit the UC Davis Bohart Museum of Entomology for free on May 16, 2026. Parking is also free! The theme is bugs and books. There will be an Eric Carle-inspired craft, live insects to hold, librarians from Dixon and Woodland, plus Krystle Hickman, a native bee photographer, will talk about creating her book “The ABCs of California Native Bees.” at 1:30 pm. Felicity Muth, a UC Davis professor of bumble bee cognition and behavior, will be discussing her all-ages book “Am I Even a Bee?” at 2:30 pm. Then at 3:30 pm Christofer Brothers, a UC Davis graduate student, will be sharing his research on dragonflies in a fun, rhyming prose that will delight all ages. There will also be a book exchange, so bring a book to swap and many books on display that have special insect references and illustrations. This is a great way to start off summer reading. Plus see the Bohart’s amazing collection of butterfly specimens, enjoy using microscopes and hold some fun, harmless insects.
