DMTC’s Beginner’s Improv Class
This beginner-friendly class introduces participants to the fundamentals of improv theatre in a fun, supportive, and low-pressure environment. Through ensemble activities, character exercises, and short-form improv games, participants will practice thinking on their feet, making bold creative choices, supporting their scene partners, and building confidence both on and off the stage. No previous improv or performance experience is required. Come ready to play, take creative risks, and discover what happens when you stop overthinking and say, “Yes, and!”

Instructor Information
Chris Long has entertained audiences around the world for 30 years in more than 150 productions, including ballet, Shakespeare, musicals, and comedies. DMTC audiences may have recently seen him as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical. Chris began teaching improv to high school students 20 years ago and continues to use improv training to help others strengthen their public-speaking skills, confidence, and quick thinking.
Sofia Rosario has 20 years of theatre experience as a performer, stage manager, crew member, and arts administrator. A former member of her high school improv team, she later studied Musical Theatre at California State University, Fullerton. DMTC audiences may have seen her as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd or Vivienne Kensington in Legally Blonde.
