August 31, 2022 (Davis, CA) – The band Viramundo will be featured this September at Peregrine School South. The concert, part of the Second Saturday Family Concert Series, will feature a wonderful sampling of varied world-music. The performance will be presented at the south campus of Peregrine School at 2650 Lillard Drive on Saturday, September 10, from 11am – noon. Gates open 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert. The Second Saturday Family Concert Series is supported, in part, by a grant from the City of Davis Arts & Cultural Affairs program. There is a suggested $20 donation, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Seating is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. Viramundo is a local band featuring Scarlet Cenira (Brazil/US) on vocals; Read Forrest (Chile/US) on guitar, cavaquinho (a small, 4-stringed, Portuguese instrument of the guitar family that would ultimately develop into the ukulele) and vocals; Goran Muhlert (Sweden) on guitar and vocals, and Bill Dakin (US) on upright bass and vocals. Viramundo’s repertoire features the music of Brazil, Cuba, Mozambique, Cape Verde as well as original compositions. Genres include Samba, Bossa, Baião, Son, Bolero, MPB, Rhumba, Reggae among others.
A 501(c)3 non-profit, founded in 2007, Peregrine School is an independent school that builds children’s capacity to learn, think and do in our ever-changing world. Located in Davis, California, Peregrine serves children from preschool through the 6th grade, drawing students from throughout the Sacramento Valley.
