Live@DCC Free Noon Concert – Tres Musicos!

Live@Dcc Free Noon Concerts presents on Friday, November 13, Tres Musicos: a trio consisting of Anita Felix, violin; Curtis Kidwell, Oboe; and John Cozza, piano. They will perform works by Ravel, Respighi and Turina, all arranged by Curtis Kidwell.
John Cozza, Curtis Kidwell and Anita Fetsch Felix each performed in the Sacramento
area, occasionally crossing paths through various orchestral and chamber music
performances, but it was a cookbook purchased by Curtis Kidwell that ultimately brought
them together. The cookbook of Spanish cuisine contained a CD of wonderful Spanish
guitar pieces that sparked a curiosity. Upon investigation, Curtis discovered a treasure trove
of of music composed by Spanish composers living in Paris between World War I and World
War II. In 2012 Curtis Kidwell embarked on a compositional odyssey to arrange these gems
into chamber works for violin, oboe and piano, which marked the start of our collaboration.
The ensemble!s name, Tres Musicos, comes from the cubist Picasso painting, “Three
Musicians, “ which has been interpreted as an homage to a trio of friends: the deceased poet
and critic Guillaume Apollinaire (Pierrot), the poet Max Jacob (the friar), and Picasso
himself as the Harlequin.
