Movies in the Park

The Sunset Rotary Club of Davis presents Movies in the Park 2026, a free series of movies at Central Park. The movies start at dusk and feature a delightful line-up for all ages :

• September 12: Lion King;
• September 19: Cars;
• September 26: Zootopia 2.

During the movies Sunset Rotary sells snacks including popcorn, cotton candy, pizza and lemonade. Volunteers share their time and expertise in hauling needed equipment to the park, setting up the screen and sound system, organizing and running the snack bar, and helping with other essential tasks.

Sponsors from the Davis and Yolo community play a vital role in making possible the existence and success of Movies in the Park. Sunset Rotary gratefully acknowledges all sponsors through a variety of print and on-line media, such as the Davis Enterprise, the Movies in the Park flyer, social media and the Sunset Rotary website. In addition, there is the opportunity for acknowledgement in a slide show at the screening of each movie. Business owners, non-profits and corporations can get information on sponsoring Movies in the Park via the following link: sunsetrotarydavis.org

All proceeds from Movies in the Park benefit the many worthy programs supported by Sunset Rotary, including the Davis Senior Center; gardens in local schools; water wells and water distribution in Kenya; and humanitarian assistance in Ukraine.

Movies in the Park was first organized by the city of Davis until the city could no longer keep it going due to budget cuts. Sunset Rotary then took it on as a unique project that enriches our community and others, as its benefits extend beyond the city environs
