Música brasileira from Viramundo

Viramundo is a five- piece band specializing in songs from across the rich musical landscape of Brazil and the wider Portuguese diaspora. They proudly perform original pieces and breathe new life into nostalgic classics.
Viramundo is fronted by Davis-based Scarlet Cenira, a dynamic singer-songwriter born and raised in Brazil. Goran Muhlert sings, composes, arranges and plays guitar. Read Forrest composes, sings, and plays guitar and cavaquinho. Bill Dakin on bass and Daniel Friedman on percussion round out the rhythm section. At this event, Viramundo will lead a sonic journey of songs in genres including bossa nova, samba, baião, and musica popular brasileira (MPB). An open mike from 7:00-8:15 will be followed by Viramundo performance 8:30-9:00.
