RETRO CUBA

August 5, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - October 4, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

Retro Cuba, offers views of life and its meaning on the island nation. Curated by retired university professor, Jorge A. Santana, the artists featured in the show are: Francisco J. Rivero and Roberto Salas who reside in Cuba and Jose R. Ramirez and Jorge A. Santana, California photographers.
Cuba is an island surrounded by a sea of misunderstanding and a home for people wanting to live in freedom and liberty. The country has weathered food shortages, embargoes, limited freedoms, and a plentiful exodus of Cubans searching for a better life. Yet despite continuing hardship and oppression it remains a country with a rich legacy of art, music and traditions.
Retro Cuba depicts some of the harsh graphic and pictorial realities of this struggling country, and at the same time provides a glimpse of the beauty, resilience, and human spirit on this little-known island.
