Travel Training Workshop

10TH ANNUAL TRAVEL TRAINING WORKSHOP ON APRIL 29
April 7, 2023 – The City of Davis invites all residents to attend the 10th annual Davis Travel Training Workshop on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Davis Senior Center, located at 646 A Street. This event is open and free to residents of all ages and mobilities who want to learn how to access the many, local transportation options and services in Davis, including bicycling.
Established in 2013, the primary goals of the Travel Training Workshop are to increase awareness and understanding and encourage usage of local travel options. The City hopes to increase confidence in using the bus, paratransit, bicycling, car share and more in the community. Through this program, residents can learn to travel to destinations like the movie theatre, restaurants or more by biking or taking public transportation.
Activities and tables include:
· Ken’s Bike-Ski-Board with bicycles to test ride from 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.
· An onsite Unitrans bus teaching residents about the various routes. Take a ride on Unitrans at 10:30 a.m.
· An onsite Yolo Bus showcasing how to load a bicycle onto the bus bike rack
· An onsite Davis Community Transit bus practicing how to get on and off the bus
· An onsite ZipCar instructing residents how to check out a vehicle
· Local residents sharing how to get around Davis using bus and paratransit
The travel training program aims to improve usage and confidence in using local public transportation, including bicycling, and help residents forge new social connections and increase independence. The travel training workshop is held annually each Spring.
