UCD DESIGN MUSEUM. This exhibition explores racism through cartoons, showcasing the work of pioneering father/daughter cartoonists the late Brumsic Brandon, Jr. & Barbara Brandon-Croft who chronicled the nation’s cultural landscape in their comic strips through the lens of racism. 12p–4p. Free

THE ARTERY. Under Willett Elementary School teacher’s Judy Catambay’s guidance, students discover their artistic voices as they turn clay into art. The lessons in clay spark their curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. Their work—and Catambays—is on display.

PENCE GALLERY. Erica Norelius’ new series of work offers an in-depth dive into the natural spaces of the Golden State, reaching from the coastal cities and desert areas, north towards Oregon. The quiet presence of man is often seen in small intrusions such as power lines and roads. 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Women artists have long used humor and satire to critique the unequal treatment of women, in areas from reproductive rights to their depiction in the media. Women’s Work is a sampling of contemporary sculpture and paintings by thirteen artists who redefine gender and femininity through their art. Free

PITZER CENTER. Drury has performed throughout the world with a repertoire that stretches from Bach to Liszt to the music of today. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Barbican Centre and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. A champion of contemporary music, he has taken the sound of dissonance into remote corners of Pakistan, Greenland and Montana. 5p—7p. Free
DELTA OF VENUS. Mad is a satirical tune about the refusal of conforming to societal norms and the power of bodily autonomy. Jazz trio Triism will open the show followed by a booty-shakin’ dance party. 6p—9p. Free
MELON BALL. Lucian Kano Balmer is widely praised for the intricate, deep, soulful, and at times meditative quality of his music, using both his violin and exquisite voice to demonstrate the spiritual power of music for healing and reviving the soul. 8p—10p. $20
MELON BALL. Spruce Ritual, described as “raga-infused chamber music,” is the combination of the enormous talents of Lucian, Hannah Addario-Berry (principal cello of San Francisco Chamber Orchestra), Ivo Bokulic (principal viola of San Jose Opera), Will Marsh (sitar) and long-time collaborator Josh Mellinger (tabla). Together, they weave an intricate tapestry of music using techniques, harmonies, and rhythms of both western classical music and north Indian classical music. 8p—10p. $20
