THE ARTERY. “Spring into Glass” celebrates the rich tapestry of glass craftsmanship created by the northern California glass community. You will see sculpture, blown glass, fused glass, stained glass, lampworking, jewelry making, cast glass. The artists include current Artery members, former members, and esteemed guest artists.
PENCE GALLERY. Women artists have long used humor and satire to critique the unequal treatment of women, in areas from reproductive rights to their depiction in the media. Women’s Work is a sampling of contemporary sculpture and paintings by thirteen artists who redefine gender and femininity through their art. Free
STEPHENS BRANCH LIBRARY. The Friends of the Library book sale is the first weekend of each month. On Sunday, fill a bag for $10.
PENCE GALLERY. Inga Poslitur’s new series of oil paintings capture flowering plants in natural environments, as well as in lovely arrangements of bouquets in domestic settings. 11:30a—5p. Free
DAVIS BIKE LOOP. To help celebrate May as Bike Month, the City of Davis invites everyone to get on their bikes for the 14th Annual Loopalooza, a community bike ride event with activity stations along the 12-mile bike loop. 10a—2p. Free
PENCE GALLERY; various locations. Visit five gorgeous private gardens in Davis on this self-guided tour, and enjoy learning about plant selection from Yolo County Master Gardeners. Stop by the Pence for a special demonstration by Inga Poslitur of her floral paintings from 2-5 PM, or take a quick tour of her exhibit Renewal at 1 PM. Also, the first 150 people to visit the Pence can pick up a free snack bag. 12p—5p. $25—35
MONDAVI CTR. Look back 100 years to the tumultuous social & political era of the early 20th century—times not unlike our own—& explore enduring works of the great music it produced. Programs will include works by Debussy, Ravel, Webern, Schoenberg, Sibelius, & Nielsen. 2p. $17.50–$56

DAVIS MUSICAL THEATRE CO. An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Riding hood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale centered around a childless baker and his wife whose only wish is to lift the family curse and live happily ever after. Thus, what begins as a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. Fri & Sat, 7:30p; Sun 2p. $20
