THE ARTERY. “Spring into Glass” celebrates the rich tapestry of glass craftsmanship created by the northern California glass community. You will see sculpture, blown glass, fused glass, stained glass, lampworking, jewelry making, cast glass. The artists include current Artery members, former members, and esteemed guest artists.
PENCE GALLERY. Women artists have long used humor and satire to critique the unequal treatment of women, in areas from reproductive rights to their depiction in the media. Women’s Work is a sampling of contemporary sculpture and paintings by thirteen artists who redefine gender and femininity through their art. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Inga Poslitur’s new series of oil paintings capture flowering plants in natural environments, as well as in lovely arrangements of bouquets in domestic settings. 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Participants will learn design, composition, shape, line, point, value, and color, as well as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry watercolor techniques. Students will produce an interactive artwork by combining watercolor expression and abstraction, sketches of natural objects, and Chinese calligraphy. The instructor will offer a class demo, followed by individual instruction and group discussion. Please visit our website for the materials list. They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale centered around a childless baker and his wife whose only wish is to lift the family curse and live happily ever after.
