SUMMARY:Art Exhibit: Amanda Cadelago & Cathie James-Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Amanda is a painter\, working in oil and acrylic paint\, as well as chalk pastel. With a life-long love for art\, she pursued and received a bachelor’s in art from the California State University\, Sacramento\, and a professional associates of art degree in design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco.\nAfter acquiring her degrees\, she worked in creative fields including fashion design and graphic design\, while still working on her art. She had a piece included in the 2021 and 2022 KVIE Art Auction. She also presented two collections of acrylic landscape paintings at the Artery Davis in 2022 and 2023 and showed a collection of chalk pastel pet portraits at the 2019 RAW Artists show in Sacramento. \nCathie has retired from a life-long career in technical drawing several years ago\, and now she has been a full time artist. She has worked in all types of media\, including painting\, drawing\, sculpting with clay\, collage\, assemblage and fine art photography. Originally a self-taught artist\, in 2008 she attended American River College full time in the Art and Photography departments. There she received degrees in Art and Art New Media as well as the Certificate in Freelance Photography. Her current focus is on painting and sculpting in clay at her studio which is part of a group of artists called Arboretum Art Works. Working independently in their own studios\, they also participate in the monthly ArtAbout art walks and studio tours in Davis. She has lived in Davis\, California since 2015 and has fallen in love with the lifestyle and art community. SUMMARY:Photography Club of Davis Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis will meet on Tuesday\, May 14\, at 7:30pm in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Library at 314 East 14th Street in Davis. \nThe meeting will feature a photo critique of member-submitted images. Critiques tend to be positive learning experiences for both submitters and the general audience. Participants discuss “why does this image work” as well as “why does this image not work” and how the image may be improved. Attendees also learn about the techniques involved. \nThe Photography Club of Davis meets every month on the second Tuesday of the month (except July and August) and welcomes members of the public to attend.

DESCRIPTION:Figure Drawing Session \n2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month\, 6:30 – 9 PM \n$15 Members\, $22 Non-Members | Limited to 10 participants \nRegistration & payment is required in advance through the Pence’s website. \n  \nWe hold self-guided figure drawing sessions with a nude model every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month\, from 6:30 – 9 PM. This group is for both experienced artists and amateurs to have an opportunity to draw from the nude model. If you have never drawn from a live model before and would like to join us\, you are very welcome! People of all skill levels\, ages 18 and up\, are welcome and encouraged to join. \n  \nThis is not a class\, and no instruction is provided. The atmosphere is relaxed and non-competitive. Bring your own art materials\, and we’ll provide a comfortable place to sketch or paint live models in our upstairs classroom space. Participants will work independently through a warm up with shorter poses and longer\, twenty-minute poses. Bring your own art materials\, and we’ll provide a comfortable place to sketch or paint live models in our upstairs classroom space.
