SUMMARY:Mercy Hawkins: Waltz of Life & Limb
DESCRIPTION:Mercy Hawkins: Waltz of Life & Limb\nExhibit: October 3 – November 6\, 2026\nReception: October 9\, 6-9 PM (Free) \nWaltz of Life & Limb pairs recent sculptural paintings by artist Mercy Hawkins\, with her vibrant\, large-scale watercolors on paper. With this work\, Hawkins seeks to answer the internal call\, to encounter what the body already knows\, from our own inner rhythms\, heartbeat\, and breath\, to dancing with wild arms. Her biomorphic shapes\, formed of intersecting dots\, dashes\, and lines\, speak to a sensory play of color\, light\, and movement. Her imagery evokes seed pods\, flower buds\, or microscopic creatures\, immersing the viewer in an all-encompassing perception of nature. \nArtist Talk: Saturday\, October 17\, 2-3:30 PM (Free)\nMercy Hawkins will speak about the development and trajectory of several bodies of recent work\, including its connection to craft. She will also explore the intersection of painting and music. \nSponsored by HF Richardson \nImage: Mercy Hawkins\, “Melting Ice”

SUMMARY:Danilo Campos: Out and About
DESCRIPTION:Danilo Campos: Out and About\nExhibit: October 9 – November 29\, 2026\nReception: Friday\, October 9\, 2026 (Free) \nDanilo Campos is a Sacramento-based artist whose recent series of paintings explore his love of new places and experiences. His antidote to everyday routines is to go out and wander\, whether it’s a new neighborhood\, a new place\, or campsite. His current series of work reflects his way of seeming to mindlessly go ‘out and about\,’ but coming back with gems of resources. \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Kim Ohlson & Allen Barnes. \nImage: Danilo Campos\, “Sheltered Cove”

SUMMARY:Portraits of Things: Paintings by Gioia Fonda and Charlie Gill
DESCRIPTION:Portraits of Things: Paintings by Gioia Fonda and Charlie Gill\nExhibit: October 9 – November 29\, 2026\nReception: Friday\, October 9\, 6-9 PM (Free)\nArtist Talk: Sunday\, November 8\, 2-3:30 PM (Free) \nInterdisciplinary artist Gioia Fonda has long collected colorful toys\, both for their intrinsic charm and as creative inspiration. As a student at California College of the Arts\, she arranged small collectibles into still-life compositions\, captured them on film\, and processed the photos at a local drugstore. Captivated by these arrangements\, her advisor\, Charlie Gill\, painted spare compositions based on her photographs—works that now hang alongside hers. For this exhibition\, Fonda has created a series of new paintings featuring similar arrangements of toys and found objects. She is also offering an opportunity for members of the public to exhibit their own small works on paper\, riffing on some of her recent photos. Artists may add to this display throughout the duration of the show. \nSponsored by the Pence Community Curatorial Fund. \nImage: Gioia Fonda\, “Holding It Together”

SUMMARY:Davis Craft and Vintage Fair
DESCRIPTION:Davis Craft and Vintage Fair began as the Square Tomatoes Craft Fair more than 10 years ago! The event was started by instructors from the UC Davis Craft Center in order to have a monthly craft fair for local artisans and the local community. We embraced local vintage vendors in 2017\, we’ve grown and we are still home to local artists and makers from the Davis and greater Sacramento area. \nWe collaborate with local non-profits starting with Couleurs Vives Art Studio who joined us in 2018! Many of our talented vendors can be found at other festivals like the Davis Phoenix Coalition’s Pride Fest\, the I-House’s International Festival\, and 2nd Friday ArtAbouts on E Street Plaza. \nExpect to see friendly vendors with local handmade and original art\, crafts\, quality vintage items\, upcycled treasures\, earth-friendly creations\, good food\, and more. Free live music fills the open space for a lively atmosphere so be sure to stop by and join us!  \n
