SUMMARY:Family D&D
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Family D&D! \nEach $20 ticket covers 1 Parent and 1 Child. \nIn this beginner friendly group Parents can play with their kids and have a great time with other families for fun D&D one-shots and mini-campaigns. \nHave questions? For more info please email info@daviscardsandgames.com \nThis event will be run by Stephen Gordon and Jacob Johnson. \nAbout Stephen Gordon: \nI started GMing back in 2000 with D&D 3rd Edition\, experimenting with running modules and totally improvising adventures from scratch. Since then I’ve kept up with running games of D&D (even 4th Edition) and branched out into as many other RPGs as I can convince my friends to try. \nThe players matter a lot more than the game to me\, with the right group any RPG is incredible. I love running Dread and other rules light RPGs that focus on atmosphere and narrative. As a player\, I’m a fan of anything Powered by the Apocalypse\, and I have a major soft spot for Lancer because when else can I pilot a mecha and punch a kaiju in the face? A friend once described my style as asking “What’s the most exciting thing that could happen next?” and I think that’s pretty accurate. I’m always trying to find ways to say yes to my players\, and give them chances to do cool stuff. When I do challenge my players I try to do it in ways that don’t take away their agency. \nWhen I’m not reading RPG rulebooks for fun\, I like trying new board games\, watching Star Trek\, and playing Monster Hunter. Professionally\, I’m a freelance technical writer and RPG designer\, and I’m currently in the process of going back to school to become a therapist.

SUMMARY:King Dream: Live at The HIVE
DESCRIPTION:The HIVE’s 2023 FREE summer concert series is in full swing! Come jive and jam with King Dream\, a psychedelic rock band! Enjoy live music\, delicious food & drinks\, and complimentary honey tastings. All ages\, families\, and dogs are welcomed! \nKing Dream is a Bay Area rock ‘n’ roll band helmed by Oakland native Jeremy Lyon\, a lifelong songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who crafts dive bar anthems with heart\, brains and soul. Hard-rocking yet poignant\, his music combines a love for American rock masters like Springsteen and Petty with ‘60s West Coast psychedelia and more contemporary torch-bearers like My Morning Jacket and The War on Drugs — all brought to life by a band of Northern California’s most in-demand players. \nLyon has played Outside Lands and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass\, toured nationally and internationally\, and also knows what it’s like to busk on the street. King Dream songs deftly balance hope and world-weariness. They seem wise beyond their years\, and they also have a way of sneaking up on you. Their shout-along choruses and searing guitar solos are at home in a darkened saloon\, to be sure\, but also — you know the giddy\, ragged vulnerability that arrives when you’ve been awake for way too long on a road trip? Between the good times and the clinks of beer bottles these songs inspire a wistfulness\, deep in your bones\, for a place you’ve never been. \n  \n
