SUMMARY:Family D&D
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Family D&D! \nEach $20 ticket covers 1 Parent and 1 Child. \nIn this beginner friendly group Parents can play with their kids and have a great time with other families for fun D&D one-shots and mini-campaigns. \nHave questions? For more info please email info@daviscardsandgames.com \nThis event will be run by Stephen Gordon and Jacob Johnson. \nAbout Stephen Gordon: \nI started GMing back in 2000 with D&D 3rd Edition\, experimenting with running modules and totally improvising adventures from scratch. Since then I’ve kept up with running games of D&D (even 4th Edition) and branched out into as many other RPGs as I can convince my friends to try. \nThe players matter a lot more than the game to me\, with the right group any RPG is incredible. I love running Dread and other rules light RPGs that focus on atmosphere and narrative. As a player\, I’m a fan of anything Powered by the Apocalypse\, and I have a major soft spot for Lancer because when else can I pilot a mecha and punch a kaiju in the face? A friend once described my style as asking “What’s the most exciting thing that could happen next?” and I think that’s pretty accurate. I’m always trying to find ways to say yes to my players\, and give them chances to do cool stuff. When I do challenge my players I try to do it in ways that don’t take away their agency. \nWhen I’m not reading RPG rulebooks for fun\, I like trying new board games\, watching Star Trek\, and playing Monster Hunter. Professionally\, I’m a freelance technical writer and RPG designer\, and I’m currently in the process of going back to school to become a therapist.

SUMMARY:Art in Action: Family Art Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Art in Action Family Art Workshops: \nThe Pence Gallery invites children and their families to participate in our monthly family art workshops! Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12\, with no pre-registration required. Projects are designed to introduce kids to making their own artwork by experimenting with creative ideas and materials. Our resident art teacher will introduce you to the wealth of possibilities in our upstairs classroom. \n  \nHow it works: \nWhen you arrive\, sign in at the front desk to pay with cash or card. There is a fee per child of $4 for Pence Members or $8 for Non-Members. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project if they are also doing art. Stay as long or as short as you like over the two hour period. (Become a Member starting at $65/year and save!)  \n  \nSpectacular Silhouette Paintings | Sunday\, December 3\, 1 – 3 PM: \nLet’s take painting to a whole new level! Create a one-of-a-kind landscape painting with a canvas\, some acrylic paint\, and a variety of fun silhouette stickers. \n  \nLearn about more upcoming Art in Action workshops: \nhttps://pencegallery.org/art-in-action/ \n  \nThis program is funded in part by the City of Davis Arts & Cultural Affairs program.

SUMMARY:Breakfast with Santa
DESCRIPTION:Santa Claus is coming to town…for Breakfast!\nIt’s that that magical time of year again. Santa and his helpers are getting ready for Christmas; making toys in the North Pole. \nBut before he heads out to deliver gifts and good cheer to children around the world\, Santa and his elves makes a stop in Davis\, CA for a quick bite to eat and to share the Christmas Spirit to one and all at the IOOF Breakfast with Santa. \nAt the Davis Odd Fellows Hall\, Santa will visit with the hundreds of children who come out for breakfast. He will also pose for some wonderful Holiday photographs. So be sure to bring and appetite and a camera. \nThis year’s event\, sponsored as always by the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge\, will be held on Saturday\, December 16\, 2023 in the Upper Hall at the Odd Fellows Hall\, 415 Second Street in downtown Davis. \nThe 2023 Breakfast with Santa marks the 16th year that the event has been hosted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Davis. \nSanta and his elves will be on hand to greet all attendees and to spend time with each child. This is an amazing photo opportunity for families! \nThe Odd Fellows have arranged for a professional photographer to take photos of each child with Santa\, however\, adults are encouraged to bring their own cameras to record their child’s moments with Santa and the Elves.
