DESCRIPTION:DAVIS ARTS CENTER – FEBRUARY 7\, 2026\nAGES 4-6 (9am-12pm)\nAGES 7-10 (1-4:30pm) \nEnjoy immersive ballet workshops based on the beloved classical ballet ‘The Sleeping Beauty\,’ led by Shannon Zwick! These exciting programs offer immersive ballet training\, including ballet technique class\, exploring the story\, characters and music of the ballet\, making fun crafts\, learning the pantomime between the Lilac Fairy and Carabosse\, and some of the many variations of the fairies from Sleeping Beauty. The day wraps up with a special mini performance\, giving participants the chance to shine and share what they’ve learned with friends and family. \nDancers participating in the Sleeping Beauty camps will receive discounted tickets to a performance of Sacramento Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty\, February 13-15 at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center in Sacramento. \nParticipating dancers should bring a snack and water\, as well as wear a leotard\, tights\, and ballet slippers.\nTo enroll\, visit SACBALLET.ORG.

Learn how to build an incredible treasure chest using origami paper\, decorative ribbons\, and more. Also make art with your community by joining us for a collaborative weaving project that includes yarn\, a rug canvas\, pom poms\, and other fiber materials. \nHow it works:\nArt in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12. No registration in advance is required\, but space and supplies are limited to the first 25 participants and are available on a first come\, first served basis. When you arrive\, pay with cash or card at the front desk. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project for themselves if they are also doing art. We provide a supportive environment where they can begin to explore and engage with the natural world around them\, encouraging a sense of curiosity\, independence\, and confidence in their early learning journey. \nOur educational approach revolves around fostering a deep connection between children and the natural world. Throughout the day\, our Forest Mentors and children engage in collaborative learning experiences that are rooted in our local environment. We believe deeply in a child-led approach to education\, one that meets children where they are in their development and comfort zones and then allows them to bloom and grow through their connection with nature. There is a lot of playing\, exploration\, and singing. We have a seasonal curriculum\, a collection of activities\, books\, and crafts that support social-emotional literacy\, creative expression\, and critical thinking skills.
