His careful attention to the formal elements and the beauty of color is always present\, even as he captures the conflict and economic disparity present in our own backyard.  \n  \nMichael Mikolon: Garments \nOct. 6 – Nov. 26 \nMichael Mikolon delves into the intricate relationship between clothing and identity\, and the stories inherent in our garments\, in a new series of drawings. Created using pastel and charcoal on Canson paper\, these works explore the connection between clothing and the individuals who choose to wear them\, and how garments can express individuality\, values\, or cultural identity. \n  \nNight Market in the Courtyard \nOct. 13\, 6 – 8 PM \nVisit our pop-up Night Market behind the Pence\, featuring work of a variety of media by young visual artists. DESCRIPTION:17th Annual Davis Neighbors’ Night Out\nSunday\, October 15\, 2023\n \nAbout\nDavis Neighbors’ Night Out is a celebration of our community and a great opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another. The event is scheduled in October to include new or returning UC Davis students in neighborhood festivities. \nThe event was initiated to encourage neighbors to get to know one another\, as connected neighborhoods encourage residents to look out for one another. Many participants have stated they have lived in a neighborhood for years and continue to meet new people at each DNNO event. \nHosting\nNeighbors\, neighborhood associations\, Neighborhood Watch Liaisons\, apartment complexes\, and/or homeowner associations are encouraged to be an “Event Sponsor.” The Event Sponsor will take the lead in setting up a small\, neighborhood gathering. Typically\, there are between 100-125 events each year\, but there is no limit. We encourage you to consider hosting a gathering in your neighborhood. Please visit the Davis Neighbors’ Night Out signup form to sign up to be an Event Sponsor. \nIf you sign up to host an event prior to October 2\, you can be entered into a lottery for a special guest to attend your event. Special guests\, including the Mayor\, Councilmembers\, Police and Fire Departments\, UC Davis and City of Davis mascots and maybe even a double decker bus. \nEvents\nTo see if there is a party already scheduled in your neighborhood\, please take a look at the map below. Individual events may start at different times depending on the neighborhood. You can view a larger version of the map by visiting the Event Location Map. \nParty Notes\n\nWe request that parties take place in a common area to create a more welcoming feel and to make it easy to find the event for those who may be unfamiliar with the neighborhood.\nBe sure to invite everyone in your neighborhood.
