DESCRIPTION:Ronald Peetz: Work in Progress \nExhibit: February 11 – April 2\, 2025 \nReception: February 14\, 6 – 9  PM (FREE) \nArtist Ronald Peetz has been a stalwart part of the regional art scene since the late 1960s. As an object maker and sculptor\, he delights in incorporating puns\, word play\, and irreverent humor into his work. Starting with his concept\, he chooses any one of the many media he employs\, to best make his idea come to life. In so doing\, his sculpture and mixed media pieces lean heavily towards social critique and parody\, blended with a lighter touch of humor and surrealism. Equally present is his interest in the history of art\, particularly his own 20th century inspirations\, from René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp\, to William T. Wiley\, one of his friends and mentors. \n  \nArtist Talk with Ronald Peetz \nMarch 15\, 1 – 2:30 PM (FREE\, $10 donation suggested) \nTalking with Ronald Peetz is much like his work – fun and full of humor. Peetz’s conceptual pieces are anything but dry\, as he uses materials such as baseballs\, violin cases\, and funerary headstones\, to underline his political and social messages. This annual event celebrates the life of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona\, killed in the line of duty on January 10th\, 2019. This event also raises awareness for the Officer Natalie Corona Odd Fellows Memorial Scholarship\, awarded annually to graduating High School Seniors from High Schools in Davis and Pierce High in Arbuckle who are going into careers in law enforcement or first responders. 12p – 4p. DESCRIPTION:Davis Craft and Vintage Fair began as the Square Tomatoes Craft Fair more than 10 years ago! The event was started by instructors from the UC Davis Craft Center in order to have a monthly craft fair for local artisans and the local community. We embraced local vintage vendors in 2017\, we’ve grown and we are still home to local artists and makers from the Davis and greater Sacramento area. \nWe collaborate with local non-profits starting with Couleurs Vives Art Studio who joined us in 2018! Many of our talented vendors can be found at other festivals like the Davis Phoenix Coalition’s Pride Fest\, the I-House’s International Festival\, and 2nd Friday Art Abouts on E Street Plaza! \nExpect to see friendly vendors with local handmade and original art\, crafts\, quality vintage items\, upcycled treasures\, earth-friendly creations\, good food\, and more!
