DESCRIPTION:Watercolor Paintings By Kindred Spirited Artists \nMisuk Goltz’s watercolor workshop participants \nWatercolor \nFebruary 3 to March 1 \n2nd Friday ArtAbout Reception: February 9\, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. \nLogos Books\, 513 Second Street\, Davis\, CA\, 95616  \nMisuk Goltz’s watercolor workshops teach fundamental techniques combined with a daring “what if” attitude. The overarching objective of these lessons is to convey the narrative of the subject through the use of expressive brushstrokes. Engaging in this artistic journey has also brought joy\, inspiration\, motivation\, and genuine friendship to these students. This exhibit serves to showcase each student’s growth and development. \nArtists in this exhibit include: Jan Bartz\, Francis Burke\, Carrie Ceniseroz\, Devi Eden\, Misuk Goltz (teacher)\, Lori Hamasaki\, Mary Moxley\, Kayoko Nishi\, Kim Olson\, Diana Orhun\, Barbara Smithson\, Olga Taran\, Lorie Topinka\, and Eydie Tumer. \nGoltz also has a solo exhibit of paintings on display at the Pence Gallery through February 25. \nYou can meet these artists at their 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on February 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. \nPublic receptions for local artists will also be held at various venues on that same evening in conjunction with the Davis Downtown 2nd Friday ArtAbout. SUMMARY:Davis Travelaires Day Trip: Rosie the Riveter Museum
DESCRIPTION:The Rosie the Riveter National Historic Park in Richmond honors the 18 million women who joined defense industries during World War II. With her rolled-up sleeves\, clenched fist\, and polka-dotted kerchief\, Rosie the Riveter rose to stardom as a symbol of the American civilian workers during the war. Richmond became a pivotal spot for wartime manufacturing\, and its population quadrupled during the war as women flooded in to fill jobs\, including fastening rivets on aircraft. We will explore the visitor center\, where you can explore educational exhibits\, watch documentaries\, and try out a rivet station interactive display as you learn about the hazardous conditions\, housing shortages\, and discrimination experienced by these women as they built the war supplies that powered the U.S. military to victory while building momentum in their struggle for equal rights. We will enjoy lunch at the Assemble Kitchen\, adjacent to the visitor center. \n
