SUMMARY:Bike Collective Workshop: Mechanic Series
DESCRIPTION:A focused workshop on a select part of the bike. Intended for people interested in learning the finer details of the bicycle’s mechanical systems. \nThe Davis Bike Collective is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit community bicycle organization. We provide a public DIY shop where folks share tools\, skills\, and knowledge about bike maintenance and repair. Our aim is to empower confident and committed cyclists through education and community building\, and to encourage more cyclists by making bikes and bike maintenance\, fun\, safe\, and accessible for everyone. \nHow It Works\nTo fix and build bikes and get more people confidently on the road we provide tools\, workspace\, and recycled parts and you provide the human-power! Volunteers of many experience levels are ready to answer your questions and demonstrate maintenance and building techniques. We do charge a reasonable amount to Repair or Build a bike in our shop as we’d like to keep the doors open. If you’d like to support us beyond the cost of your day pass or new wheel\, check out our Volunteer and Donate pages. Either way\, we’re always excited to teach people how to fix and maintain their bicycles the DIY way\, so thanks for coming by! \nLocation\nThe Davis Bicycle Collective is located in the courtyard at the northwest corner of 4th St and L St in Davis\, California. DESCRIPTION:Release\, recharge\, and recenter by gifting yourself 90 minutes of intuitive\, inspired\, mindful movement with a welcoming local community!\n\nThese days\, we are all feeling the edges of our capacity to cope. You can deepen and supercharge your self-care by tapping into the wisdom of your body.\n\nOnce a month\, join a growing and diverse community in discovering the special alchemy that occurs at the intersection of mindfulness\, movement\, and music. No dance experience is needed; come and be welcomed *as you are.*\n\nEach event will begin with brief introductions and setting of intentions for the session. Then\, accompanied by a carefully curated playlist of inspiring music and sound\, Teresa will help facilitate your journey of intuitive movement\, guiding you to find inspiration in your:\n\n– breath\n– sound\n– body\n– mind\n– spirit\n– story\n\nWe approach this in a state of mindfulness\, which is characterized by:\n\n– non-judgment\n– patience\n– having a beginner’s mind\n– trust\n– non-striving\n– acceptance\n– letting go\n\nYou will have the opportunity to explore your inner depths through active movement\, contemplative stillness\, and all that emerges in-between.\n\nPersonal awareness and attunement to one’s own limits\, boundaries\, and needs throughout the practice is foundational to mindful dance. Individuals with differences in physical ability are welcome and freely accommodated.\n\nOur time will close with a circle gathering with optional personal sharing.\n\n——————\n\nWe believe in the currency of communal care\, so classes are priced based on your ability to pay.\n– The standard fee for the class is $20.\n– If you can offer more to support those who need it\, you may choose to pay $30.\n– If you need to utilize the support of your community\, you may choose to pay $10 or ANY donation amount.\n\nYou are trusted to self-select your payment tier; no questions asked.\n\nCentering Dance classes will be held monthly (usually on the 4th Tuesday. *December date is different*).\n\nIndoor dance studio located at:\nStambusky Studios Dance Collective\n2880 5th St.\, Ste. 115\nDavis\, CA\n\n*** HEALTH PROTOCOLS ***\nMasks are encouraged but not required.
