She piloted the event last year\, and we think our community could use another one right about now. \nAt Hope Café\, you’ll get some time away from the news cycle and instead experience: \nLocal artists jazzing up the space with music and poetry\nLighthearted activities that spark curiosity and delight\nConversations that build connection in creative\, human ways\nAll of it unfolds in a warm\, welcoming space – complete with snacks! You’ll leave feeling recharged and inspired. \nSo if you are looking to step out of the doom-loop we seem to be living in\, lean into some self-care or just want to make new friends\, then join us for Hope Café. \n

DESCRIPTION:A Celebration Of Color\nCathy Brorby\nquilts\, wool appliqué\, fiber art\nApril 28 to May 30\n2nd Friday ArtAbout Reception: May 8\, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\nLogos Books\, 513 Second Street\, Davis\, CA\, 95616 \nCathy Brorby has always enjoyed making things with textiles. Her sister taught her how to knit when she was in elementary school and this experience led her to learn crochet\, embroidery and cross-stitching. \nIn 1995\, Brorby and a dear friend went to see the movie “How to Make an American Quilt” and it inspired them to take a quilting class for beginners. They were immediately hooked. She soon realized that cutting fabric into pieces and making a design with them was much more gratifying than cutting out pattern pieces and sewing them together to make articles of clothing. She eventually took more classes and explored other quilting styles and techniques. \nRecently\, Brorby has turned her focus to wool appliqué. She embellishes her works with different threads\, beads and materials in order to add layers of complimentary colors and textures.
