SUMMARY:Women in Science Expo – Free
DESCRIPTION:Peregrine School welcomes you to WISE (Women in Science Expo)\, on Saturday\, March 9\, from 11am – 2pm. The free Expo is a celebration of women in science. WISE features static displays\, interactive demos and presentations by Peregrine students and scientists from the greater community. A schedule of events will be posted on the Peregrine website. The Expo welcomes children of all ages\, their families\, and the public. In addition to the presentations\, El Fogoncito will be onsite offering a wide variety of Mexican specialties including tortas\, quesadillas\, burritos\, mulita and gringas (please note that El Fogoncito only accepts cash\, Zelle and Venmo). WISE will be presented at Peregrine’s South Campus located at 2650 Lillard Drive\, Davis. \n  \nWISE will feature a wide range of topics. To highlight a few of the live presentations\, one will be an exciting presentation about meteorology featuring demos on the mixing of cold and warm air; the power of air pressure (including smashing a can!) and a radiometer. There will also be a complimentary presentation about the interactions between plants\, soil\, and the atmosphere. The presentations will be about 20 minutes long. \n  \nIn addition to the live presentations\, there will be several tables with interactive demos. A few of the topics include a display of preserved insects with live mites for kids to count under a microscope; how data and mathematical modeling is being used to study elk and wolves in Yellowstone and humans in California; elephant interactions including acoustic communication demos and images for other modalities of elephant communication (i.e.\, tactile\, and visual). \n  \nAs you can clearly see\, the Expo will be entertaining\, informative\, and inspiring for all ages!
