DESCRIPTION:Register Now!\n  \nThe UC Davis Institute of the Environment\, Environmental and Climate Justice Hub\, Climate Adaptation Research Center\, and Manetti Shrem Museum invite you to a very special presentation of a groundbreaking documentary urging us to rethink our relationship with wildfire. \nA screening of “Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire” will start at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday\, May 31\, in the Community Education Room at the Manetti Shrem Museum on the UC Davis campus. A panel discussion will follow the screening. \nThis event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. \nWatch the trailer for “Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire” below: \n\n\n\n  \nAbout “Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire”  \nFilmed across the West and narrated by Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor David Oyelowo\, “Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire” takes viewers on a journey with the top experts in the nation to better understand fire. The film follows the harrowing escape from Paradise\, California as the town ignited from wind-driven embers and burned within a few hours of the fire’s start. It then continues to the even more recent fires of the last two years\, when Oregon\, California\, and Colorado suffered their worst wildfires in recorded history. \n“Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire” includes the voices of climate experts\, Indigenous people and fire survivors\, and asks us to reimagine our relationship with wildfire as we prepare for an increasingly hotter future. \nFollowing the May 31 screening of the film\, we will host a panel discussion featuring Trip Jennings\, the film’s director; Elizabeth Azzuz\, Yurok Tribe member and treasurer of the Cultural Fire Management Council; Rick O’Rourke\, Yurok Tribe member and cultural fire practitioner; and Emily Schlickman\, UC Davis assistant professor of landscape architecture and environmental design. \nVisit the film’s website: https://www.elementalfilm.com/.
