DESCRIPTION:HOLIDAY SALE up to 35% OFF \nKaren Fess-Uecker was born in Cedar Rapids\, Ia. She has since lived in seven other states (PA\, OH\, KY\, OK\, NC\, TX and now CA) and has painted and shown her work in 6 of those states. Her abilities developed – not through formal schooling\, but through studying other artist’s work either from books or participating in workshops and classes offered by artists she admires. Her painting have been shown in numerous juried shows (locally\, regionally and nationally) and galleries in the many states in which she has resided. She has also participated in various one man and group art shows. She began painting in watercolor\, but has since moved tomostly painting in oils She has a strong love for color and is often complemented on her use of color. Laughingly – in her one college painting class – an instructor told her that while she drew beautifully (black\nand white) when she worked in color – she lost it. SUMMARY:Tai Chi Classes at the Davis Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Tai chi (太极) is an ancient Chinese martial art that is practiced for health and self-defense purposes. It is a type of moving meditation in which breathing is coordinated with a series of fluid movements and postures. Different forms of tai chi incorporate different postures\, and sometimes props such as swords or fans. Tai chi without props is called tai chi chuan (chuan means “fist”). Qi gong\, which is often used as a warm-up for tai chi practice\, consists of slow\, gentle movements coordinated with breathing exercises to promote the flow of qi (the body’s vital life force energy). Both tai chi and qi gong offer numerous benefits\, including stress reduction\, improved posture\, increased mindfulness\, and enhanced energy levels. Regular practice improves balance\, flexibility\, and strength while fostering relaxation and focus.  \nTina currently offers classes in the simplified tai chi chuan 8-\, 13-\, 16-\, and 24-forms\, and the Yang style 42- and 48-forms. Mastery of any of these forms may take years\, but persistence is the only requirement for learning tai chi. Thus\, while the 8- and 24-form tai chi chuan are considered the most basic\, students of all levels are welcome in all of Tina’s classes. Visitors can enjoy shopping from cozy knit scarves\, unique bags\, jewelry\, ceramics\, paintings\, and more. There are over 50 artists participating this year\, and our gallery will be overflowing with fun items that will make for great gifts\, which can be wrapped in a free gift bag upon request. Pence Members receive 10% off of Holiday Market purchases! \n  \nMember Opening | Friday\, November 8\, 10:30 – 11:30 AM (free) \nPence Members are invited to enjoy a private opening of the amazing Holiday Market.
