DESCRIPTION:The Artery continues to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. March is fiber month with a vibrant display of creativity. The Artery’s four artists who work with fabric and thread are Ardith Gray\, Marjan Kluepfel\, Cindy Nelson\, and Rebecca Stein-Wexler. They are joined by seven local fiber artists\, Deb Cashattt\, Judy Coates Perez\, Sandra Mollon\, Sandra Poteet\, Ann Sanderson\, Jan Soules\, and Martha Wolfe. This show displays an amazing artistic range—abstract\, realism\, florals\, landscapes\, quilting\, embroidery\, silk painting. \n

DESCRIPTION:Changing Habitats \nCarol Brent Levin \nprintmaking \nMarch 2 to March 29 \nCarol Brent Levin has taken art classes at local community colleges and workshops in northern California. Although she enjoys sketching and painting\, photography and printmaking have become her main avenues for artistic expression. While she has a small etching press in her home studio\, she also has the opportunity to work in shared community presses in both Walnut Creek and Benicia. She has just started working at Kala in Berkeley where she has access to more printmaking processes. Levin is a member of the California Society of Printmakers.  \n

Following the end of the exhibit\, plan your visit to some of our city’s creative spaces\, in the free Studio Tour scheduled for the weekend of April 13 – 14\, 10 AM – 5 PM.  \n  \nErica Norelius: Natural Places & Urban Spaces \nMar. 1 – Apr. 28 \nErica Norelius’ new series of work offers an in-depth dive into the natural spaces of the Golden State\, reaching from the coastal cities and desert areas\, north towards Oregon. The quiet presence of man is often seen in small intrusions such as power lines and roads. Equally compelling are her captivating cityscapes\, which capture the busy highways and urban street life of Oakland and San Francisco. \n  \nGina Werfel & Hearne Pardee: Fragments \nFeb. 9 – Apr. 2 \nThis exhibit highlights recent paintings\, collages\, and drawings of Gina Werfel and Hearne Pardee\, who have recently retired from teaching at UC Davis after having spent more than 20 years teaching art\, in addition to maintaining busy studio practices. Despite the differences between their respective work\, they each approach their practice with the intent of layering or fragmenting multiple points of view or perspectives.   \n  \nBussie Parker Kehoe: Lucky Seven \nMar. 5 – 31 \nThis month\, we are featuring work along the stairway by mixed media artist\, Bussie Parker Kehoe.
