DESCRIPTION:Art in Action Family Art Workshops: \nThe Pence Gallery invites children and their families to participate in our monthly family art workshops! Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12\, with no pre-registration required. Projects are designed to introduce kids to making their own artwork by experimenting with creative ideas and materials. Our resident art teacher will introduce you to the wealth of possibilities in our upstairs classroom. \n  \nHow it works: \nWhen you arrive\, sign in at the front desk to pay with cash or card. There is a fee per child of $4 for Pence Members or $8 for Non-Members. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project if they are also doing art. Stay as long or as short as you like over the two hour period. Students will choose their own subjects to paint (with an option to also choose subjects from the instructor’s file). After watching UC Davis Professor of Entomology Louie Yang’s Monarch/Milkweed Monitoring crew establish several hundred milkweed colonies at the North Davis Channel\, Snyder began photographing the arthropod life on the plants. He documented insect behavior and their interactions with other species on their host plants. Participants will be guided through the daunting task of completing a painting and turning it into a loved exercise in creative practice. DESCRIPTION:Our Golden Anniversary – 50 years of fun\, friends\, and artistic excellence \nThe Artery is one of the oldest cooperate art organizations in California.  We are so proud of this milestone.  Our exciting new show\, opening January 5\, includes 9 previous members and 29 current members.  Woodwork\, ceramics\, paintings\, photography\, fiber art\, gourds\, jewelry – highlighting the breadth of creativity offered by The Artery. \nJoin us for our reception on January 12\, 6-9 — a joyous celebration with the music of Fuzzy Dice – Heidi Bekebrede and Diana Craig\, fine wine\, and good eats. \nThere will be store demonstrations on January 28\, 11:30 – 3 pm  Louise Bezark – Gourds and Kathleen Samson – Sea Glass Jewelry  \n  \n
