Pulling from his memories\, he adapts bits of the places inspired by growing up in South America\, setting colorful cars\, buildings\, and streets in an urban grid. Turning towards the rural\, the artist composes a scene of idyllic islands\, complete with trees and a few small homes\, within a tranquil ocean. DESCRIPTION:Submit work by Oct 30. \nThis exhibition\, to be held at the Pence Gallery on November 1st\, 2024\, aims to explore the evolving relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence by pitting people not only against each other but also against AI-generated work from that of an AI personality. \n$100 prize\, artist spotlight in our newsletter and promotional materials (including an interview)\, and a short art practice video documentation. This show will have the support of Timothy Hyde and Davis alum Mia Rassam in the jurying process. \nArtist spotlight in our newsletter\, documentation of art practice\, and professional portfolio photography of the winning artwork. These categories include – Painting\, Drawing\, Ceramics\, Sculpture\, Photography\, Sound/Video\, Mixed Media\, Other(Conceptual\, Post-Human Art). \nLIVE Mural: Now in its third iteration\, we are inviting artists to participate in an on-site thematic mural\, which will be documented as part of an ongoing series aiming to capture the highly skilled and expressive personalities passing through the Davis art program. \n

DESCRIPTION:Figure Drawing Session \nWednesday\, November 13\, 6:30 – 9 PM \n$15 Members\, $22 Non-Members | Limited to 10 participants \nRegistration & payment is required in advance through the Pence’s website. \n  \nWe hold self-guided figure drawing sessions with a nude model every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month\, from 6:30 – 9 PM (only one session in November). This group is for both experienced artists and amateurs to have an opportunity to draw from the nude model. If you have never drawn from a live model before and would like to join us\, you are very welcome! People of all skill levels\, ages 18 and up\, are welcome and encouraged to join. \n  \nThis is not a class\, and no instruction is provided. The atmosphere is relaxed and non-competitive. Bring your own art materials\, and we’ll provide a comfortable place to sketch or paint live models in our upstairs classroom space. Participants will work independently through a warm up with shorter poses and longer\, twenty-minute poses. SUMMARY:Art in Action: Amazing Autumn Prints
DESCRIPTION:Art in Action Family Art Workshops: \nThe Pence Gallery invites children and their families to participate in our monthly family art workshops! Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12\, with no pre-registration required. Projects are designed to introduce kids to making their own artwork by experimenting with creative ideas and materials. Our resident art teacher will introduce you to the wealth of possibilities in our upstairs classroom. \n  \nHow it works: \nWhen you arrive\, sign in at the front desk to pay with cash or card. There is a fee per child of $4 for Pence Members or $8 for Non-Members. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project if they are also doing art. (Become a Member starting at $65/year and save!) Stay as long or as short as you like over the two hour period. Space and supplies are limited to the first 25 participants and are available on a first come\, first served basis. \n  \nAmazing Autumn Prints | Sunday\, November 17\, 1 – 3 PM: \nJoin us for fun\, fall-inspired printmaking!
