SUMMARY:Stephen Giannetti: All In
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Giannetti: All In  \nExhibit: December 13\, 2024 – February 2\, 2025 \nReception: Friday\, December 13\, 6 – 9 PM (Free) \nArtist Talk: Saturday\, January 18\, 3 – 4:30 PM (Free\, suggested donation $10) \n  \nStephen Giannetti has explored the grid and the circle in various media over his 30-year career. Early in his career\, he pioneered a new mode of approaching the modernist grid. By painting three primary and three secondary colors in a specific pattern to define a set of same-sized circles\, Giannetti sought to create an engaging visual experience\, where the act of seeing color is primary. For the past 15 years\, Giannetti has adapted his method of hand-painting with traditional oil paint to the more contemporary application of acrylic spray paint. Using poker chips as a stencil for layering spray paint\, he creates an active space where colors mix\, and shapes fade in and out of view. During the pandemic\, the artist began to use poker chips as the building blocks of sculptural forms. By creating objects referencing baskets\, vases\, or geometric shapes\, the artist stays true to his interest in working with simplified forms and repeated patterns.  \n  \nSponsored by Royal Guest Hotels\, and Charles Cunningham.  \n  \nImage: Stephen Giannetti\, “South of Summer” \n

SUMMARY:Bussie Parker Kehoe: A Curious Garden
DESCRIPTION:Bussie Parker Kehoe: A Curious Garden \nExhibit: January 10 – February 28\, 2025 \nReception: Friday\, January 10\, 6 – 9 PM \nConversation with the Artist & Director Natalie Nelson: Saturday\, February 22\, 2 – 3:30 PM (Free\, $10 donation suggested) \n  \nBussie Parker Kehoe’s mixed media work walks the line between painting and sculpture. The artist painstakingly pours discarded household paint into stacks of colorful circles\, celebrating found materials in unusual ways. Laying the dried circles in support next to one another\, her work resembles leaves in an explosion of growth. Other times\, Kehoe cuts the dried paint peels into smaller shapes\, placed next to each other in an irregular colorful patchwork. Kehoe views her work as reminiscent of the patterned Korean textiles from her youth\, creating a lively ‘quilt’ full of texture and movement that seems to escape from its base.  \n  \nSponsored by Rosa Marquez and Yatish Mishra\, as part of the Pence Gallery’s Emerging Artist Award. \n  \nThe Pence is open 11:30 AM – 5 PM\, Tuesday – Sunday (closed Mondays). \n  \nImage: Photo by Brandon Joseph Baker; Bussie Parker Kehoe\, “Languorous”

SUMMARY:Ronald Peetz: Work in Progress
DESCRIPTION:Ronald Peetz: Work in Progress \nExhibit: February 11 – April 2\, 2025 \nReception: February 14\, 6 – 9  PM (FREE) \nArtist Ronald Peetz has been a stalwart part of the regional art scene since the late 1960s. As an object maker and sculptor\, he delights in incorporating puns\, word play\, and irreverent humor into his work. Starting with his concept\, he chooses any one of the many media he employs\, to best make his idea come to life. In so doing\, his sculpture and mixed media pieces lean heavily towards social critique and parody\, blended with a lighter touch of humor and surrealism. Equally present is his interest in the history of art\, particularly his own 20th century inspirations\, from René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp\, to William T. Wiley\, one of his friends and mentors. \n  \nArtist Talk with Ronald Peetz \nMarch 15\, 1 – 2:30 PM (FREE\, $10 donation suggested) \nTalking with Ronald Peetz is much like his work – fun and full of humor. Peetz’s conceptual pieces are anything but dry\, as he uses materials such as baseballs\, violin cases\, and funerary headstones\, to underline his political and social messages. Join him as he talks about his days as an art student in the 60s\, inspired by artists such as Stephen Kaltenbach\, William Wiley\, and others. \n  \nSponsored by Helen Richardson. \n  \nThe Pence Gallery is open 11:30 AM – 5 PM\, Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). \n  \nImage: Ronald Peetz\, “The Old Ball Game” \n

Free admission! \n  \nRonald Peetz: Work in Progress \nFeb. 11 – Apr. 2 \nFeatures sculpture and mixed media pieces\, in which the artist delights in incorporating puns\, word play\, and irreverent humor. His work leans heavily towards social critique and parody\, blended with a lighter touch of humor and surrealism. Find unique works of art (such as ceramics\, paintings\, textile art\, and more) from more than 25 professional artists\, including Jennifer Nachmanoff\, Tanya Lieberman\, Marjan Kluepfel\, and Marlene Lee. Located upstairs in the Learning Center. \n  \nQuilled Paper Art by Kathy Canfield Shepard \nJan. 10 – Feb. 28 \nFeatures intricate three-dimensional works of art made from paper.
