SUMMARY:Dia de los Muertos
DESCRIPTION:On an annual basis\, the Davis Cemetery District hosts a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on our grounds. This celebration is one of the last Mesoamerican indigenous influenced rituals\, honoring mother earth and all ancestors. This celebration is part of an effort to create a community\, a sense of belonging\, and global awareness of cultural richness in our multicultural society. \nHistorically\, the Dia de los Muertos celebration has included a variety of artists and performers\, as well as a collective altar honoring all ancestors. We are pleased to announce this year’s Dia de los Muertos event will be fully returning for the first time since the pandemic! \nThis year’s Dia de los Muertos event will be held Saturday\, November 2nd\, from 10:00AM – 1:00pm. This year’s community partner/organizer is Zaid Arroyos\, Intern for Yolo County Board of Supervisors District 4. \nThe event will feature live music\, sugar skull painting\, face painting\, local artist displays\, food\, and more. \nWe are looking for interested vendors to attend and sell their products to our patrons. If you have food\, art\, crafts\, supplies\, home goods\, or anything else that you wish to sell at our event\, please fill complete the interest form here. \n

SUMMARY:Art in Action: Amazing Autumn Prints
DESCRIPTION:Art in Action Family Art Workshops: \nThe Pence Gallery invites children and their families to participate in our monthly family art workshops! Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12\, with no pre-registration required. Projects are designed to introduce kids to making their own artwork by experimenting with creative ideas and materials. Our resident art teacher will introduce you to the wealth of possibilities in our upstairs classroom. \n  \nHow it works: \nWhen you arrive\, sign in at the front desk to pay with cash or card. There is a fee per child of $4 for Pence Members or $8 for Non-Members. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project if they are also doing art. (Become a Member starting at $65/year and save!) Stay as long or as short as you like over the two hour period. Space and supplies are limited to the first 25 participants and are available on a first come\, first served basis. \n  \nAmazing Autumn Prints | Sunday\, November 17\, 1 – 3 PM: \nJoin us for fun\, fall-inspired printmaking! DESCRIPTION:Healing Arts One-Time Workshop \nTuesday\, November 19\, 2 – 3:30 PM \n$5 Members\, $10 Non-Members (all materials included)* \n  \nPart of the Pence’s Healing Arts Program and run by facilitator Amy Vidra\, this one-time\, 90-minute art workshop focuses more broadly on a theme related to depression\, anxiety\, or major life changes. Through the process of art making\, participants will have opportunities for discussion\, education\, and connecting with peers in a safe and supportive space. Participants must be 18 or older\, and no art experience is necessary. Registration is required online through our website\, and space is limited to the first 8 participants who register.
