Williams’ layered mixed-media paintings incorporate roots\, branches\, and floral subjects. She builds and excavates her surfaces with paints\, oil sticks\, ink\, pencil and collage\, revealing traces like memory. Steinert-Foley’s sculptures give tactile\, three-dimensional form to themes fundamental to the human endeavor. In this exhibition\, translucent acrylic and resin are used to extend the experience of water as a light shimmer on the gallery walls. Water is vital for life\, and vital to our region. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12. Free admission! \nManuel Fernando Rios: When They Reminisce Over You | Feb. 7 – Mar. 29\nIn his exhibit\, Manuel Fernando Rios shares his interest in themes that explore his Chicano heritage\, as well as his family’s history and experiences. Blurring the line between naturalism and abstraction\, the artist embraces the use of complex design patterns and photography to make a powerful statement. \nCharlene Will: Here for a While | Jan. 9 – Feb. 28\nView a solo exhibit by Charlene Will\, the recipient of the 2025 Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award. Her work is rooted in a reverence for nature. Watercolor references will be chosen from photographs taken during the artist’s recent travels to China\, Korea\, and Japan. For this workshop\, participants should be familiar with the basics of drawing\, watercolor painting\, mixing colors\, and gray scale. DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis invites the public to a free program\, “If you could see where I’ve been – 2025 in review” on Thursday\, February 19\, at 7:10pm\, at the Davis Library Blanchard Room\, 315 E.14th St.\, Davis. \nLewis Kemper\, a widely recognized photographer\, writer\, and instructor\, will share favorite images taken on his travels in 2025. Locations include: The American River\, Yosemite\, Pt. Reyes\, Alaska\, St\, Augustine\, New Mexico\, Utah\, Mono Lake\, Nevada\, Wyoming\, Montana\, North and South Dakota\, and Utah. \nKemper’s books include\, “Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest”\, published by Graphic Arts Center Publishing; “Capturing the Light” which won the People’s Choice Awards in Fine Art in the 2009 Photography.Book.Now competition; and “Photographing Yosemite Digital Field Guide” which was voted in the top 20 field guides. His training videos have been used by thousands of photographers\, helping them with their photographic and post processing skills.
