This group is for both experienced artists and amateurs to have an opportunity to draw from the nude model. If you have never drawn from a live model before and would like to join us\, you are very welcome! People of all skill levels\, ages 18 and up\, are welcome and encouraged to join. \nThis is not a class\, and no instruction is provided. The atmosphere is relaxed and non-competitive. Bring your own art materials\, and we’ll provide a comfortable place to sketch or paint live models in our upstairs classroom space. SUMMARY:Residue of Ritual Opening Reception at The Barn Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The Barn Gallery’s upcoming exhibition Residue of Ritual: an exhibition of the discarded is a two-person show featuring works by artists Tana Quincy Arcega and Michael Ryan. The exhibition opens with a reception from 3 – 6 p.m. on Saturday\, March 14 with local wine and light refreshments. The Gibson House will also be open to the public during the event. \nIn Residue of Ritual\, Quincy Arcega and Ryan curate a spectacle of objects and images culled from the endless deposits of residual materials resulting from our accelerated growth economy. Their visual commentary angles on the cultural mindset of mass production and waste as well as the vast array of ritualistic systems and customs that produce them. \nBoth artists share a visual language based in realism that journeys toward abstraction through mimicry\, utilizing traditional art media and building materials to accomplish this end. With a fascination for textures\, the artists bring to light the hidden materials that pervade our landscapes\, from plastic packaging to fashion waste. \nResidue of Ritual is on view at The Barn Gallery March 14 through May 23\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis will meet on Thursday\, March 19\, at 7:10pm in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Library at 314 East 14th Street in Davis. The meeting will feature a photo critique of member-submitted images. Critiques tend to be positive learning experiences for both submitters and the general audience. Participants discuss “why does this image work” as well as “why does this image not work” and how the image may be improved. Attendees also learn about the techniques involved. The Photography Club of Davis meets every month on the third Thursday of the month (except July and August) and welcomes members of the public to attend. \n“This event is not sponsored by Yolo County Library and the presence of this group in the meeting room does not constitute Yolo County Library’s endorsement of the policies or beliefs of this group.”

DESCRIPTION:Figure Drawing Session\nWednesday\, March 25\, 6:30-9 PM\n$15 Members\, $22 Non-Members | Limited to 10 participants\nRegistration & payment is required in advance through the Pence’s website. \nWe hold self-guided figure drawing sessions with a nude model every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month\, from 6:30-9 PM. This group is for both experienced artists and amateurs to have an opportunity to draw from the nude model. If you have never drawn from a live model before and would like to join us\, you are very welcome! People of all skill levels\, ages 18 and up\, are welcome and encouraged to join. \nThis is not a class\, and no instruction is provided. The atmosphere is relaxed and non-competitive. Bring your own art materials\, and we’ll provide a comfortable place to sketch or paint live models in our upstairs classroom space. Participants will work independently through a warm up with shorter poses and longer\, twenty-minute poses. From March 27-29\, 2026\, Yolo Fest celebrates the region’s agriculture\, music\, arts\, culture\, farm-to-table food\, craft beverages\, recreation\, and local hospitality. \nThe Pence Gallery in Davis will be open with three spectacular art exhibits from 11:30 AM – 5 PM\, and admission is free to view these displays by these visual artists: \nManuel Fernando Rios: When They Reminisce Over You\nFebruary 7 – March 29\nIn his exhibit\, Rios shares his interest in themes that explore his Chicano heritage\, as well as his family’s history and experiences. Blurring the line between naturalism and abstraction\, the artist embraces the use of complex design patterns\, photography\, and text to make a powerful statement. \nAssorted Flavors: Pence Member Exhibit\nMarch 13 – April 16\nView 40 works of art created by Pence Members in this widely ranging annual display of paintings\, photographs\, textiles\, and more. \nBarbara Prodaniuk: Myths in Mud\nMarch 13 – April 26\nProdaniuk is a ceramic artist whose work is inspired by the forest\, meadows\, and waterways of the Truckee area.
