DESCRIPTION:Artist Talk with Robert Ortbal\nSaturday\, October 18\, 3-4:30 PM\n(Members & students free\, Non-Members $10) \nJoin us for an Artist Talk with Robert Ortbal in conjunction with his current solo exhibition\, Encounters. He will lead a dialogue about the work on display\, sharing images and videos highlighting the evolution and development of his previous work. \nRobert Ortbal combines a vast array of both common and odd materials\, applying them in endless variations to create small-scale\, uniquely masked figures\, traveling-case environments that house them\, and wearable sculptures that are\, at times\, worn outside the gallery environment in performative public works. For Encounters\, a 20-foot towering sculpture made from electrical conduit soars up into the clerestory and snakes along the gallery floor\, displaying an assortment of his wearable works. DESCRIPTION:Davis Craft and Vintage Fair began as the Square Tomatoes Craft Fair more than 10 years ago! The event was started by instructors from the UC Davis Craft Center in order to have a monthly craft fair for local artisans and the local community. We embraced local vintage vendors in 2017\, we’ve grown and we are still home to local artists and makers from the Davis and greater Sacramento area. \nWe collaborate with local non-profits starting with Couleurs Vives Art Studio who joined us in 2018! Many of our talented vendors can be found at other festivals like the Davis Phoenix Coalition’s Pride Fest\, the I-House’s International Festival\, and 2nd Friday Art Abouts on E Street Plaza! \nExpect to see friendly vendors with local handmade and original art\, crafts\, quality vintage items\, upcycled treasures\, earth-friendly creations\, good food\, and more! Free live music fills the open space for a lively atmosphere so be sure to stop by and join us!  \n
