DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the museum’s groundbreaking exhibitions at our free public opening celebration. \n\n\nThrough Their Eyes: Selections from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection\, the first US presentation of the renowned contemporary art collection from Italy \n\n\nRuby Neri: Taking the Deep Dive\, Neri’s first solo museum exhibition. \n\n\nThe exhibitions join continuing exhibition Light into Density: Abstract Encounters 1920s–1960s | From the Collection of Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem. \nExhibiting California artist Ruby Neri will be in conversation with curator Ginny Duncan\, and an interactive work by Dorte Bjerre Jensen\, Danish artist and current UC Davis Ph.D. student\, invites visitors to experience art\, space and your museum friends in unexpected ways.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Pence Gallery for our 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on February 14\, 6 – 9 PM. Browse a variety of art exhibits and enjoy some wine by Fiddlehead Cellars. Free admission! \n  \nRonald Peetz: Work in Progress \nFeb. 11 – Apr. 2 \nFeatures sculpture and mixed media pieces\, in which the artist delights in incorporating puns\, word play\, and irreverent humor. His work leans heavily towards social critique and parody\, blended with a lighter touch of humor and surrealism. Equally present is his interest in the history of art\, particularly his own 20th century inspirations\, from René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp\, to William T. Wiley\, one of his friends and mentors. \n  \nBussie Parker Kehoe: A Curious Garden \nJan. 10 – Feb. 28 \nFeatures mixed media artworks that walk the line between painting and sculpture. The artist painstakingly pours discarded household paint into stacks of colorful circles and layers them\, sometimes cutting the dried paint peels to create an irregular colorful patchwork. Reminiscent of the patterned Korean textiles from her youth\, she creates a lively ‘quilt’ full of texture and movement that seems to escape from its base. \n  \nSeconds Sale \nFeb. 7 – Feb. 28 \nWhat do you do with an artistic experiment\, works of art with small flaws\, too many of one item\, or overstock that your studio shelves are insisting you take care of? You have a ‘seconds sale’! Find unique works of art (such as ceramics\, paintings\, textile art\, and more) from more than 25 professional artists\, including Jennifer Nachmanoff\, Tanya Lieberman\, Marjan Kluepfel\, and Marlene Lee. Located upstairs in the Learning Center. \n  \nQuilled Paper Art by Kathy Canfield Shepard \nJan. 10 – Feb. 28 \nFeatures intricate three-dimensional works of art made from paper. The artist uses her own designed papers\, incorporates her skills as a graphic designer and watercolor artist\, and uses seed beads and other found objects to highlight her designs.
