SUMMARY:Off the Floor and on the Wall: Handwoven Creations and Artistic Expressions
DESCRIPTION:The Artery presents “Off the Floor and on the Wall” featuring weaving and rag rugs by Lisa Erskine.  She is joined by Jerri Erskine-Zilbert showing handwoven creations and Blayney Breckenridge with clay art.  Lisa uses many different weaving techniques including Card Weaving and Doubleweave Pick Up.  As she pushes the edge of color and pattern\, her images often emerge as landscapes or abstract art.  Blankets\, drawings\, and poetry will also adorn the gallery walls.  Reception: Friday\, June 9\, 7-9 pm.  Weaving demonstration in The Artery\, Wednesdays\, June 7 and 14.  10-Noon. Lisa will be in the gallery demonstrating weaving on an 8 harness loom. \n          \n

SUMMARY:Mais Bossa House Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a summer evening of beautiful bossa nova in an intimate backyard setting near downtown Davis! Mais Bossa plays the classics and deep cuts of the bossa nova era along with Brazilian inspired takes on American favorites. A native of Goiânia\, vocalist Marcia Jacomo fronts the band with her angelic and playful voice. The rhythmic heartbeat is supplied by the Brazilian master of percussion Alex Calatayud. Patrick Langham of legendary local bands Boca do Rio and Big Sticky Mess plays bass. Billy Larkin brings decades of jazz piano experience with his delightfully unique arrangements. \nTickets are $20. Snacks and drinks will be available for donations.
