SUMMARY:Exhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Exhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit \nIt’s time for our annual non-juried exhibit to highlight the talent of our community’s artists! Artists ages 16 and up can drop off one artwork of their choice in any medium to the Pence on June 29\, 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM\, to be displayed in our summer display Exhibit It! Participating artists can win the Curator’s Choice award\, or the Public Choice award\, chosen by visitors to the exhibit. \nThe Pence will accept up to 50 works of art\, limited in size to 30″ maximum in any direction (including the frame). Sculpture cannot weigh over 50 lb. 2D work should be framed\, or ready to install. This is a first come\, first served basis. No early drop-offs allowed.  \nWhen dropping off on June 29\, artists will fill out a contract for their artwork prior to paying the submission fee. Artists should have all of their artwork’s information prepared\, including the title\, medium\, dimensions\, retail price\, etc. You may have someone else drop off your work for you\, but they must be able to fill out the entire artist contract with your information. \nDrop off date: June 29\, 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM (ends once we receive 50 artworks) \nSubmission fee: $20 Pence Members\, $30 Non-Members \nExhibit dates: July 5 – August 18\, 2023 \nReception: July 14\, 6 – 9 PM (Awards at 8 PM) \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Phil & Dawn Daro. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art 2023 \n  \nExhibit dates: July 11 – August 20\, 2023 (closed Mondays) \nReception: Friday\, July 14\, 6 – 9 PM (Awards 7:30 PM) \nThe Pence Gallery’s Slice exhibit is now in its 11th year! This display of contemporary art in a variety of media celebrates the work of artists from all over California. This year’s juror is Kelly Lindner\, Art Galleries and Collections Curator for the University Galleries\, California State University\, Sacramento\, where she is responsible for overseeing exhibits and programs for three galleries. Kelly Lindner has chosen pieces for Slice that are conceptually thoughtful\, technically skilled\, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Awards will be announced during the reception on July 14 at 7:30 PM.

We will also have live music by Davis Diplomacy\, a folk music group\, from 6 – 8 PM. Free admission. \n  \nSlice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art \nJul. 11 – Aug. 20 \nThis year’s Slice selection celebrates the diversity of expression in our region with an array of sculptures\, prints\, paintings\, and photography created by 31 visual artists. Juried by Kelly Lindner\, Curator for the University Galleries at California State University\, Sacramento\, Slice represents a fascinating snapshot into what contemporary issues and approaches artists are addressing through their work. \n  \nSayako Dairiki: Mended Memories \nJun. 27 – Aug. 20 \nSayako Dairiki’s paintings echo sashiko\, the traditional Japanese mending technique of garments and blankets that involves repeated stitching in geometric shapes or lines. Her work delights the eye in the repeated geometry of various shapes\, inspired by ‘mending’ as a metaphor for healing and reconnecting with others. \n  \nExhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit \nJul. 5 – Aug. 18 \nEach year\, we highlight the talent of our local artists in Exhibit It!\, a non-juried community art show.
