As she writes\, “I seek to capture the essence of this journey with these paintings serving as a testament to growth and creativity\, capturing moments of beauty to be cherished long after the petals have fallen.” Painting from life\, she emphasizes the life cycle of plants\, detailing their blooming and fading in glorious detail. \n  \nArtist Demonstration \nMay 5\, 2 – 5 PM (FREE) \n  \nOn the day of the Pence Gallery’s Garden Tour event\, Inga Poslitur will demonstrate how she creates her lovely floral paintings\, and answer questions about her exhibit during this time. The community is invited to shop from a variety of cool creations in our pop-up Night Market\, as well as participate in making a clay tile for a memorial mosaic. Enjoy some wine while browsing the art on display too. Free admission! \n  \nNight Market at the Pence \nInside the gallery from 6 – 9 PM \nShop from aspiring young artists and support the local art scene. Browse work ranging from prints and paintings\, to ceramics and jewelry\, and more. Artists will be handling their own sales through cash\, check\, mobile pay\, etc. All proceeds go directly to the artists! \n  \nMake a Clay Tile! \nIn the courtyard from 6 – 8 PM \nThe Davis Cemetery District’s COVID-19 Memorial Artist Team invites the public to make a ceramic tile for the mosaic installation. All supplies and instructions are provided for this fun and free activity. Open to all ages and experience levels. \n  \nGarden Tour Plein Air Paintings \nMay 25 – June 25 (New!) \nAs an essential part of our May 5 Garden Tour event\, five artists participated in creating distinct views of the selected gardens. Artists Raquel Cox\, Barbara Smithson\, Marie-Therese Brown\, Marlene Lee\, and Teresa Steinbach-Garcia worked in different media\, from oil and acrylic paint to watercolors. SUMMARY:Exhibit It! Artwork Drop-Off
DESCRIPTION:Exhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit \n  \nIt’s time for our annual non-juried exhibit to highlight the talent of our community’s artists! Exhibit It! is open to artists ages 16 and up. Artists self-select one piece (limit 30” in any direction\, including frame\, and no more than 50 lb.) and bring it to the Pence on Friday\, June 28\, beginning at 11:30 AM. All artworks must be ready to install.  \n  \nThe Pence will accept the first 50 artworks that are submitted after the artist has paid the submission fee ($25 for Pence Members\, $35 for Non-Members) and completed an artist contract\, which is provided upon arrival. Please be prepared to fill out information about your piece\, including title\, medium\, dimensions\, retail price\, etc. This is a first come\, first served process. No early drop-offs accepted. \n  \nParticipants can win the Curator’s Choice award of $100\, announced during the reception on July 12. Or they can win the Public Choice award\, which includes a free Pence annual membership and a picture in the Davis Enterprise. The Public Choice award is determined by the top number of votes made by visitors to the exhibit and announced after the show has concluded. \n  \nDrop-off date: Friday\, June 28 (beginning at 11:30 AM until spots have filled) \nSubmission fee: $25 Members\, $35 Non-Members \nExhibit dates: July 5 – August 18\, 2024 \nReception: July 12\, 6 – 9 PM (Awards at 7:30 PM) \n  \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Phil & Dawn Daro. \n
