Free admission! \n  \nStephen Giannetti: All In \nDec. 13 – Feb. 2 \nStephen Giannetti has explored the grid and the circle in various media over his 30-year career. Using poker chips as a stencil for layering spray paint\, he creates an active space where colors mix\, and shapes fade in and out of view. By painting three primary and three secondary colors in a specific pattern to define a set of same-sized circles\, Giannetti seeks to create an engaging visual experience\, where the act of seeing color is primary. The artist also uses poker chips as the building blocks of sculptural forms\, referencing baskets\, vases\, or geometric shapes. \n  \nBussie Parker Kehoe: A Curious Garden \nJan. 10 – Feb. 28 \nBussie Parker Kehoe’s mixed media work walks the line between painting and sculpture. The artist painstakingly pours discarded household paint into stacks of colorful circles\, celebrating found materials in unusual ways. Laying the dried circles in support next to one another\, her work resembles leaves in an explosion of growth. Other times\, Kehoe cuts the dried paint peels into smaller shapes\, placed next to each other in an irregular colorful patchwork. Kehoe views her work as reminiscent of the patterned Korean textiles from her youth\, creating a lively ‘quilt’ full of texture and movement that seems to escape from its base.  \n  \nJordan Hayes: The Little Things \nDec. 6 – Jan. 30 \nJordan Hayes is a figurative painter whose recent work centers on portraying objects with underlying stories and deeper meanings. Her figures engage with these items in quiet scenes\, featuring dramatic lighting\, eye-catching hues\, and attention to detail\, to provoke a greater appreciation for life’s subtleties. \n  \nQuilled Paper Art by Kathy Canfield Shepard \nJan. 10 – Feb. 28 \nKathy Canfield Shepard stretches the boundaries of traditional techniques to create intricate three-dimensional works of art out of paper. Trained in surface pattern design\, she uses her own designed papers in her work\, incorporates her skills as a graphic designer and watercolor artist\, and uses seed beads and other found objects to highlight her designs. SUMMARY:Photography Club of Davis
DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis will meet on Wednesday\, January 15\, at 7:10pm in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Library at 314 East 14th Street in Davis. The meeting will feature a photo critique of member-submitted images. Critiques tend to be positive learning experiences for both submitters and the general audience. Participants discuss “why does this image work” as well as “why does this image not work” and how the image may be improved. Attendees also learn about the techniques involved. The Photography Club of Davis meets every month on the third Wednesday of the month (except July and August) and welcomes members of the public to attend. \n“This event is not sponsored by Yolo County Library and the presence of this group in the meeting room does not constitute Yolo County Library’s endorsement of the policies or beliefs of this group.”

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join us for an afternoon of heart-to-heart connection. \nWhether you are seeking to make new friendships\, deepen existing relationships\, or just explore new ways of connecting\, The Village Heart offers a space for curiosity and exploration. This is a unique opportunity to experience The Village Heart for free at this inaugural Sunday afternoon event. \nHere’s what you can expect: \nGuided Connection Activities: These include moving through the space with others\, partner exercises\, and group activities that encourage meaningful interactions and new ways of relating to one another. \nOpportunities to Explore and Stretch Comfort Zones: Whether you are sharing\, listening or engaging in somatic practices\, every exercise is an invitation to stretch just beyond your comfort zone in a safe and supportive environment. Each participant is free to choose their level of engagement at all times and opt out of any exercise. \nReflective Sharing and Group Dynamics: We’ll explore different ways of connecting in small groups or pairs\, always with the invitation to speak from the present moment and lean into what’s authentically true for you. \nBrian\, one of our Village Heart facilitators will be taking some photographs during our gathering to capture the essence of the Village Heart in order to give others a sense of what it is like. The photography will be more of a background aspect of this experience and we expect this to mostly feel the same as our regular gatherings. Your willingness to be included in photos is greatly appreciated\, but not required. \nTogether we’ll enrich our capacity for honest expression as we build a sense of safety in community. Come just as you are\, challenge yourself by choice\, and leave feeling understood\, inspired\, and a part of something truly special. \nThis event is totally free and open to all\, but pre-registration is required. \nWe hope you will join us!
