SUMMARY:41st Annual Candlelight Parade and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Beginning at 6p\, the Candlelight Parade will begin in the Davis Food Co-op parking lot\, located at 620 G St.\, and conclude at the E Street Plaza. \nWalkers\, strollers\, wagons\, and decorated bicycles are welcome to join the parade and festive holiday lights are encouraged. \nAt 6:30p\, the holiday tree will be lit by members of the Davis City Council\, led by Mayor Frerichs. \nThe following local groups will perform holiday tunes and original pieces at the E Street Plaza: \n\n6p – Davis Youth Choir\n6:15p – Davis Senior High Jazz Choir\n6:35p – Davis Senior High Madrigals\n6:50p – Mariachi del Valle\n7:05p – Davis Local Vocals\n7:20p – Davis Musical Theatre Company’s Young Performers’ Theatre division\n\nIn addition\, the following festivities will be available for participants to enjoy: \n\nFree screenings of the short film “Shrek the Halls” at the Varsity Theatre @6p\, 6:40p & 7:20p.\nSanta and Mrs. Claus from 6:30–8p.\nAn activity station to write letters to Santa\nRoaming mascot characters for photo opportunities\nHorse and carriage rides sponsored by the City of Davis employee groups\, PASEA\, DCEA\, PDOA and Firefighters Local 3494\nThe 11th Annual Window Decorating Contest by the Davis Downtown Business Association as part of “December to Remember.” More information and activities can be found at https://davisdowntown.com/.\n\nParking: Free public parking structure behind the Signature Stadium 5 Theatres at 4th and G Streets. This annual event is arranged by the choir and celebrates the arrival of new members and allows us to bid farewell to the graduating singers. \n\n\nAlong with a full-course meal and grand performance\, the event includes a silent auction and the perfect opportunity for interested junior high students to perform alongside the choir. The repertoire is a harmonious combination of solos and full choir pieces before the seniors say their goodbyes with one last song. This year’s feast will be held at the California Agricultural Museum in Woodland.

He is currently music historian-in-residence with San Francisco Performances\, where he has lectured and performed since 1994. \nThe Chamber Music of Antonin Dvořák\nNo nineteenth-century composer wrote chamber music more joyful\, more melodically brilliant\, more accessible\, and more compositionally sound than did the Bohemian-born-and-bred Antonin Dvořák (1841–1904). Protégé of Johannes Brahms; father of nine children (all with his first and only wife); and beloved teacher\, conductor\, violinist\, and pianist\, Dvořák was perhaps\, along with Joseph Haydn\, the nicest\, kindest\, least neurotic person ever to become a major composer. Like Haydn\, Dvořák created a body of musical work remarkable for its straightforward expressive content\, humor\, humanity\, grace\, and technical polish.
