SUMMARY:Photography Club of Davis Free Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis will host a free photography workshop\, “Following the Light: The Importance of Personal Photographic Projects\,” on Wednesday\, June 18 at 7:10pm\, at the Davis Library Blanchard Room\, 314 E 14th St.\, Davis. \n\n\nThe workshop leader\, Seán Duggan\, is a fine art photographer and photographic educator. In this presentation\, Mr. Duggan explores the importance of the personal project as a vehicle for creative exploration\, mastering specific photography techniques\, and fostering personal growth. Working within the structure of a project or series can benefit photographers of all experience levels\, but it can be particularly helpful to new photographers\, who are still discovering and refining their voice and style. Drawing on his personal experiences as a photographer and photographic educator\, Mr. Duggan illustrates the concepts in his presentation with images from several of his own personal projects created over the past 35 years and made with a wide range of cameras and imaging techniques. \n\n\nMr. Duggan uses a variety of cameras in his work\, including vintage twin lens reflex cameras\, plastic toy cameras\, a wooden pinhole camera\, as well as modern mirrorless digital cameras and an iPhone. As the photography content lead on the Adobe Learn team\, he creates and curates educational content for Adobe’s digital imaging products. He has over 20 online courses on photography\, Photoshop\, and mobile image making at LinkedIn Learning\, where he hosted the popular series Mobile Photography Weekly from 2016 to 2021. He has taught workshops at the Maine Media Workshops\, the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops\, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre\, and the Focus on Nature workshops in Iceland. He is the author or co-author of several books on Photoshop and digital imaging including The Creative Digital Darkroom\, Photoshop Masking & Compositing and The Enthusiasts Guide to iPhone Photography.
