SUMMARY:David Kalb’s “Journey Into Street Photography”
DESCRIPTION:The Photography Club of Davis will present David Kalb’s “Journey Into Street Photography” on Tuesday\, April 9th at the Blanchard Room of the Davis Library\, 315 E. 14th Street. This free program takes place from 7:30 to 8:45 and is open to photographers and non-photographers alike. \nKalb is an award-winning street photographer who has had several solo exhibits in Davis and Sacramento including Logos Books\, the International House\, and Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. He has also been featured in group exhibitions throughout the Country. For Kalb\, it’s like eavesdropping on the world as he roams the streets of a city\, camera at the ready\, “always keeping my eyes open for humorous situations\, intriguing expressions\, and touching interactions.” Often asked how he would spend his time in what he refers to as “semi-retirement”\, after selling his consulting firm in 2012\, Kalb’s primary response was “to once again take up photography.” And that’s what he did.  Several of the photographs featured in Kalb’s presentation were taken in the summer of 1972\, after he graduated high school. \nAccording to Kalb\, “It’s exciting and personally rewarding to make a photograph — a moment in time that is unique.  In the click of the shutter\, a street image is captured – one that has never been seen before and will likely never be observed again.”  Like one of his favorite photographers\, Elliott Erwitt\, Kalb is also drawn to museums\, not only for the beautiful art\, but for the juxtapositions created by visitors. \nKalb’s presentation will feature over forty of his Street images from around the world.  This includes advice on becoming a street photographer; ways to improve your street photographs; what to look for on the street; and how to capture that decisive moment. \nKalb serves as President of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center\, an educational non-profit art center in Sacramento that exclusively exhibits photography.  Kalb volunteers as a photographer for the Yolo Basin Foundation\, which use his images in a variety of promotional and social media materials. \nYou can view many of Kalb’s photos by visiting www.DavidKalbPhotography.com  \n
