DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Pence Gallery for our 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on July 12\, 6 – 9 PM. Enjoy some wine while browsing all new art exhibits and the gift store. Free admission! \n  \nSlice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art \nJul. 12 – Aug. 16 \nThe Pence’s annual Slice exhibit displays art that is conceptually thoughtful\, technically skilled\, and representative of contemporary trends in art. This year’s juror\, Robert Ortbal\, has selected 45 regional artists from across California to show their work in this exhibit. Awards will be announced at 8 PM. \n  \nJaya King: chromavista \nJul. 2 – Aug. 16 \nIn chromavista\, the artist expresses her interest in conveying a deeper feel for the land through the use of high-vibrational color and textured surfaces in her paintings. After building up the surface and then cutting through the layers to reveal the movement of time and the transitory nature of color\, the artist’s view of this region’s landscapes reveals itself.  \n  \nExhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit \nJul. 5 – Aug. 18 \nEach year\, we highlight the talent of our community’s artists in Exhibit It!\, a non-juried community art show. View 50 fantastic artworks and vote for your favorite artist to win the Public Choice award\, announced at the conclusion of the show. The Curator’s Choice award will be announced at 7:30 PM. \n  \nAbstracts from Above: Photographs by Andrew Lincoln \nJul. 6 – Jul. 31 \nThis month\, we are featuring photography along the stairway by Andrew Lincoln. This collection features his drone work of the Napa-Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Area with a focus on the algae and hydric formations that play a role in the ecosystem’s vitality and make this wild corner of Napa Valley a truly special place. \n  \n— \n  \nVisit the Pence and other venues in Downtown Davis for the 2nd Friday artwalk.
