DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Pence Gallery for our 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on March 14\, 6 – 9 PM. Browse a variety of art exhibits and enjoy wine from Terra Sávia Winery & Ettore Winery. Free admission! \n  \nRonald Peetz: Work in Progress | Feb. 11 – Apr. 2 \nFeatures sculpture and mixed media pieces\, in which the artist delights in incorporating puns\, word play\, and irreverent humor. His work leans heavily towards social critique and parody\, blended with a lighter touch of humor and surrealism. Equally present is his interest in the history of art\, particularly his own 20th century inspirations\, from René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp\, to William T. Wiley\, one of his friends and mentors. \n  \nDavis Art Studio Tour Exhibit | Mar. 11 – Apr. 20 \nFeatures work by the 45 artists participating in the Davis Art Studio Tour. Preview their work at the Pence\, plan your visit to some of our city’s creative spaces for the tour\, and view a wide range of media including woodworking\, ceramics\, paintings\, photography\, jewelry\, and more. The free tour will take place on April 12 – 13\, 10 AM – 5 PM. Learn more at www.davisopenstudios.com. \n  \nFlights of Fancy: Frankie Hansbearry & Marsha Elam | Mar. 7 – Apr. 27 \nFeatures work by two Sacramento-based artists whose ceramics explore whimsical and imaginative themes. In their figurative works\, reality flies out the window to reveal anthropomorphic characters\, interesting faces\, and tales with a twist that hold up a mirror to human nature. \n  \nWatercolor by Joanne Andresen’s Watercolor Class | Mar. 7 – Apr. 30 \nFeatures work by students in Joanne Andresen’s Intermediate Watercolor Class at the Pence and includes painters Tracey Long\, Kim Ohlson\, and many others. Their expressive watercolor paintings show experimentation with composition\, color\, and brushwork.
