SUMMARY:Artist lecture with Tarrah Krajnak
DESCRIPTION:Tarrah Krajnak (b. 1979) was born in Lima\, Peru. Her photographs are in collections including the Centre Pompidou and Museum Ludwig. Her book El Jardín De Senderos Que Se Bifurcan (2021) was named to the Museum of Modern Art’s inaugural list of 10 photo books of the year. Her work has been published and reviewed in Aperture\, Artforum and New York Review of Books. Krajnak is represented by Galerie Thomas Zander\, Cologne\, Germany\, and she has received fellowships from the George and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation and the Lewis Baltz Research Fund Award. She is an assistant professor of art at the University of Oregon\, and living on the unceded territory of the Kalapuya. \nOrganized by the Department of Art and Art History and supported by the U.C. Davis College of Letters and Science. Co-sponsored by the Manetti Shrem Museum.

DESCRIPTION:There is a new spot for anyone who may need a break and de-stress. Chair Share currently includes about 10 (mostly) red Adirondack chairs. Studies show that even a short time outdoors can reduce stress and improve mood\, among a variety of other social and wellbeing benefits. The goal of this program is to encourage our community to spend more time outside by providing enticing amenities. \nIn addition to chairs\, Learning by Leading Arboretum Ambassadors will be tabling nearby to lend out picnic blankets\, watercolors\, and frisbees; answer questions about the Arboretum and Public Garden; and share information about the importance of staying healthy outside!

DESCRIPTION:The Folk Music Jam Session at Wyatt Deck is back! After a hiatus due to Covid and the complete reconstruction of the event location\, folk musicians are once again invited to bring their acoustic instruments and play together informally during this jam session at Wyatt Deck (located next to the redwood grove in the UC Davis Arboretum). \nPull out your fiddles\, guitars\, mandolins\, penny whistles\, pipes\, flutes\, squeezeboxes—you name it!—and join your fellow musicians for a little bluegrass\, old-time\, blues\, Celtic\, klezmer\, and world music over the lunch hour. All skill levels welcome and listeners are invited. Takes place Fridays from 12–1p. \nShort-term parking is available in Visitor Lot 5 on Old Davis Road at Arboretum Drive. Hourly rates start at $1.75.
