About the Artist
Evan Thomas Lilley is a caricature artist based in Davis CA. His main focus is in classical oil painting but has also worked with watercolor, ink and digital illustration.
Lilley was born and raised in Davis in 1991, and though he enjoyed art at a young age, he began formally pursuing it later in his teenage years. He graduated from UCDavis in 2016, transitioned from a series of various jobs including Six Flags caricaturist, graphic designer, book illustrator, line cook, and now runs his own Caricature business.
His style originates from two contrasting sources. The first is his sketchy lively style he developed from drawing the downtown Davis scenery as well as the stand up comedy circuit in Sacramento. The second is the more refined oil portraits that are influenced by his 18th century idols and the online classes he takes from the Grand Central Atelier based in New York city. His influences include William Hogarth, Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, Quentin Blake and many more.
